Engl - Verdi Gala at 17 july 2009, Naples
The San Carlo Theatre moves down the square and enters the heart of the city. On stage Two Orchestra and Two Choirs, of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the San Carlo Theatre. On the podium one of the greatest directors of our days, Antonio Pappano. After last year's Beethoven's Syhmphony N9, the new concert is entitled Verdi gala! And it will propose the most beautiful symphonies, chorus and dances composed by Giuseppe Verdi. A programme entirely dedicated to the Italian music, some of the most incredible pages of the melodrama. The evening will kick off with the Symphony from the Luisa Miller, then to the chorus of Vai pensiero from the Nabucco and Vedi le fosche from Il Trovatore. And more, to the famous symphony of the Vespri Siciliani to the great chorus of the Aida, Gloria all'Egitto and the dance from the Otello. The concert will end not with a piece of Verdi, but with one that we can define Verdian: the famous prelude from the Mephistopheles by Arrigo Boito.
