The Demo Site

The Royal Palace hosts the second leg of the project The Singing City. This time it's the turn of the Theatre in Naples during the Eighteenth century. On display the plans of Mediano and Vaccaio, the prospects of the Neapolitan theatres of the time, together with the scores of the operas that have deeply influenced the European culture. Contracts, decrees, coupons, sketches of scenes and costumes outline the frame of an activity, which, despite preserving the typical features of an area (trees of plenty, the feast of the "four altars", carnival), represents, at the same time, the flourishing economy connected with the world of the musical theatre of a grand capital city.
