  • Engl - Vincenzo Aulitto's exhibition from 11 june to 29 june in Naples

The subject of the exhibition is the mythical headland which takes its name from Enea's bugler, who died, according to the legend, in the Pozzuoli's sea (Virgilio tells us this legend in the 6th book of Eneide). Miseno dares to Tritone in the trumping and, for this reason, the gods punish him with the drowning; Enea finds the lifeless body and organizes a funeral (the profile of the headline seems to be a cairn). After this event and according to the Sibilla's prophecy, the hero finds the golden branch in the wood; with the golden branch he can access the Ade in the Averno. I can see Miseno headland and its beauty, from the window that is in my studio and, it's a picture of my daily life. I have represented it in many different ways, not only for its aesthetic and naturalistic features, but also because it's a symbol of the spiritual research carried out by human beings. The exhibition will show you 15 works in little size, the drafts which have introduced the subject of the original works and, a series of canvas paintings 70x50, in which the profile of the headland is represented in fantastic and dream situations. 6/7 three dimensional artworks of middle and big size, deal with the nature, shapes and surfaces of volcanic and overgrown lands. During the exhibition you will watch a video in which a trumpet sinks (will it be a metaphor of our time?). The video has been created with the collaboration of Costantino Sgamato, who is a young winner of the Neapolitan festival"A corto di donne". The soundtrack has been created by Walter Maioli, author of the music for "Il gladiatore".
